Tatahouine Diogenite HED Achondrite Meteorite - 2.58g

This is a beautiful 2.58 gram piece of a pretty amazing meteorite known as Tatahouine!  Tatahouine fell to Earth on June 27, 1931, around 1:30am.  It landed in the country of Tunisia.  Due to a transcription error, it is recorded in the MetBull under the name Tatahouine, but the actual name of where it fell is Tataouine.  This meteorite is a rare diogenite originating from 4 Vesta located in the asteroid belt!  This is very soft, fragile material making larger pieces like this very hard to come by.

Tatahouine is also known as the Star Wars meteorite within the meteorite community.  The creator of Star Wars, George Lucas, filmed Return of the Jedi here.  In the Star Wars saga, Tataouine is spelled Tatooine.  This is where Jabba the Hutt ruled and was ultimately killed by Princess Leia. 

The weight of this piece is 2.58 grams.
