Collection: Lunar

Lunar meteorites are fragments of rock that originated from the Moon. They are formed when the Moon is struck by an asteroid or comet, causing pieces of its surface to be ejected into space. These fragments can enter an Earth-crossing orbit and eventually survive their passage through the Earth's atmosphere, landing on Earth as meteorites. Lunar meteorites are identified by their unique chemical and mineral characteristics, which are compared to lunar rocks returned by the Apollo and Luna missions.
