Gebel Kamil "As Found" Egyptian Iron Meteorite 365.2g
Gebel Kamil is an iron meteorite that was found in Egypt back in 2009. The crater is about 45 meters wide. It was first discovered by Vincenzo de Michele while using Google Earth satellite imagery. A joint Italian and Egyptian expedition team was put together. They were led by Dr. Luigi Folco in 2009 and 2010. They confirmed the existence of the crater as well as the meteorite by recovering about 1600 kilos of it. This meteorite was classified as an ungrouped iron. It is estimated that there's about 1.6 tons of material but there could be more. Some pieces are exploded shrapnel while others have a really neat looking "reptilian skin" look to them.
The weight of this piece is 365.2 grams.
